How is it already September?!? How is it possible the last post was in April?

If you are on the YouTube channel you know there has been a lot of A/C, plumbing and electrical maintenance on the house. However, the main reason the blog dropped off the list was a major effort that will continue to be a part of our lives.

Gardening. Gardening videos. A new gardening channel.
Two raised garden beds.

It’s kinda DIY, but it’s an entirely different genre. So I’ll keep this update post pretty simple to the DIY aspects of gardening:Two raised garden beds with shade structure and 50% shade cloth.

I built two raised beds and two shade structures out of the home DIY leftovers:

  1. 2×4’s
  2. 2×6’s
  3. 4×4’s recycled from the porch post project
  4. 4″ screws
  5. 3.5″ screws
  6. 3″ screws
  7. 2.5″ screws–you get the idea that I selected screws in order of size and when one box ran out…just grab another. 😉
  8. broke two drill bits–one is still embedded in the raised bed
  9. 6 mil plastic from shower remodels
  10. plywood from a roof remodel
  11. OSB, which refused to disintegrate sitting and then lying by the side of the house–and still refuses to disintegrate on a raised garden bed!

There was not one trip to Home Depot or any similar kind of store. Almost every last piece of lumber is in use.

Recycling all old project wood for raised garden bed frames.

Each step of the way, including mistakes and the thought process behind the build, is in these next videos, just in case you look at your own pile of lumber and consider sourcing your own food from your own backyard.

Next month it is back to the regularly scheduled DIY goodness. However, it would be nice to see you on the new garden YouTube channel as well–there is so much to learn!
